Beware: Carcinogens on Your Nail Polish and Hair Straighteners
Yahoo! News reports that carcinogens can be found on your nail polish and hair straighteners. So, make sure to check the ingredients found on your nail polish (is there a product info on nail polish bottles?) and hair straighteners. You shouldn't read formaldehyde or styrene in there.
The report goes:
The report goes:
On June 10, the US government issued a report declaring formaldehyde, used in a variety of consumer products including nail polish and hair-straightening solutions, to be a carcinogen. Another chemical cited as a potential cancer trigger is styrene, commonly found in plastic and rubber products.Consumers are advised to do what they can to avoid the harmful chemicals, but The New York Times reports that the risks are far greater for those who work with the chemicals on an industrial scale.

GT: I Disliked Art Class
I thought hard before coming up with this post. Hate, for me, is such a strong word. That explains the use of dislike in my title. I didn't enjoy my art class, especially when I was in grade school.
Best Buy colored pencils on my office table ;)
I couldn't get the perspective or real-life drawings right, or even just simple drawings. LOL.
It's ironic really because I love lines, color, designs because I've been exposed to them growing up. My architect father has a drafting room in our house, and we have lots of watercolors, t-square, drawing board, all kinds of paper, pencils, and other art paraphernalia. Yet, I didn't have the flair for drawing then.
It was only later that I learned or discovered that I can somehow draw, color. In fact, I am the one who helps my kids do their artwork and other art projects in school, even I make their costumes! I think with a few lessons, I'll definitely have a better artwork. LOL

TotalBeauty's Makeup: Beauty Brand Pronunciation Guide
Yeah, I don't know how to pronounce these brands, too. And it's embarrassing to be checking these brands in the stores and not being able say the name of the brand correctly. :) Sometimes, the salesperson corrects you politely.
So this post from TotalBeauty is really very useful.

How to pronounce it: bor-gay-zeh not bor-gay-zee
The history behind the name: Once upon a time in 1938 a 17-year-old Italian girl named Marcella Fazi married a widowed nobleman named Paolo Borghese and promptly became a Princess. Princess Borghese, like so many of us, loved beauty products and had her toiletries specially made for her using only the finest natural ingredients found on the grounds of her villa in Rome.

My Parfoit Tote
Isn't she lovely? :D I got this bag from Parfois Glorietta 4.
This tote is perfect for an office girl like me. It can carry folders, organizers, and even a laptop! Also, one thing I observe about Parfois is that they don't have many of its kind, and they don't repeat their display.

Ruby Tuesday: Spot the Ruby!
For Me Glorietta had a sale last week, and of course, I grabbed the opportunity. I got this cotton red blouse, and it's so comfy. I can wear it for formal and casual wear by pairing it with jeans or slacks or even skirts. I also love it's detail at the neckline, which are flowers made of silk.
This is my second For Me blouse, the first one is here, and I love it! :)

Changes in Your Lifestyle Before Making the Decision to Have Botox
Botox is not the only answer to removing wrinkles. There are already a number of Botox Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and other capital city clinics in Australia. They are all there if you want to go. If you do choose to have the procedure done, you should know that it is only a temporary solution. You will have to get it done again in about six months. Before you consider this procedure, you should think about some sensible changes you can make to your lifestyle.
- Eliminate Your Bad Habits. Do you smoke? Do you take drugs? All of these are extremely bad for our health. Our health is reflected in the quality of our skin. Wrinkles and other signs of aging can go away by removing the bad habits that put them there in the first place.
- Change Your Diet. Why is it the simplest things that we were taught as a child are what count when we get older? Are you eating a healthy diet? We all know what a healthy diet is. Now is the time to start practicing it.
- Exercise. While we should exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, we should also do more than this. Going to the gym three times a week for an hour, on top of your 30 minutes, to get your heart and blood pumping, is what is called for. Exercising for 30 minutes a day might only mean walking to work. This is not enough. We need to do some strenuous exercise.
- Cleansing and Skin Care. Are you using a simple moisturiser on your face? Are you using cleansing creams? Do you remove your make-up before sleeping? Keeping our skin properly cleaned and hydrated will also go along way to reducing the number and severity of the wrinkles any of us have.
- Sleeping Well. How many hours a day do you sleep? Many of us only sleep around six to seven hours a day. The fact is, we need more. You should be trying to sleep a minimum of eight hours a day. If this means getting used to going to bed earlier, then that is what you should be doing.
- Getting Some Sun. While we have been told the sun is bad for our skin for so many years, the medical world has started to admit that the sun is very important for our health, and therefore, the health of our skin. Getting out for an hour and eating our lunch outside is a very good way to get the amount of sun we need each day. Getting burnt is what we are meant to be avoiding. Sitting indoors all day in our office, and then at the nights at home, is not good for us at all.
- Other Options. Botox is only one method a professional clinic can offer to improve the way you look. They will have a number of other treatments. Microdermabrasion, peeling of the skin, is another option you may be offered. Again, this treatment will have its side-effects. You might look a like you have had a bad sun burn for a few days. Look at the minimalist treatments you can choose before taking the more extreme treatments. A good clinic should be able to recommend good facial cleansing and toning products. Complement your lifestyle changes with some small cosmetic products before making the decision for more invasive treatments.
